Blendtec TB-621-20 1,560-Watt Total Blender, Black Review

Blendtec TB-621-20 1,560-Watt Total Blender, Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)

I have owned this blender for about a month. So far it has worked great. It is a great tool to have if you expect to blend stuff on a daily basis. The larger blades and powerful motor makes my Oyster beehive blender feel like a toy. It will blend things that conventional blenders would not even begin to blend. Baby food can be puree very well. Much better than with the food processor. This machine can basically replace a food processor, a juicer, and a grinder.

Things I like:
1. It blends just about anything do to the large blades and powerful 1500 watt motor. And it does it much faster than a conventional blender.
2. It's built in the USA and the parts seem to be good quality.
3. One push button operation allows you to blend w/o having to time it or supervise it.
4. lifetime warranty on coupling and blade.
5. It fits under standard counters.

Things I do not like:
1. The base has a cheap feel to it because of the plastic. For the price, I think it should have been metal.
2. Has lesser warranty than its competitor (Vita-Mix).
3. I expect an expensive tool like this to have better dampening to absorb noise and vibration.
4. The plastic container (polycarbonate) scratches easily when mixing grains, seeds, etc.

Product Description

When the blending button is pushed on the Smart-Touch technology digital touchpad, a preprogrammed cycle automatically speeds up and slows down to draw ingredients into the 29,000 rpm blade and thoroughly blend all the ingredients. It shuts off when the cycle is complete, so recipes will turn out perfect every time. The blending jar is our famous patented square jar design, just like our professional models used in U.S. coffee, juice, and restaurant chains, with a 64-ounce capacity and a one-year warranty. The patented two-prong stainless-steel blade carries a lifetime warranty. The blender has a powerful commercial-quality, 1,560 watt 3 HP direct-drive motor (model number E3) and comes with an ice-crushing guarantee and a three-year warranty on the motor and base. The Total Blender replaces these other kitchen appliances: Grain mill, juicer, bread machine, ice-cream maker, smoothie maker, blender, milkshake maker, coffee grinder, ice crusher. And it does the job better than the individual products, for a fraction of the cost. Material used : BPA free Copolyester.

Jura-Capresso 13332 Impressa J5 Automatic Coffee and Espresso Center, Matte Black Review

Jura-Capresso 13332 Impressa J5 Automatic Coffee and Espresso Center, Matte Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)

Where to begin? This machine can do it all, from a strong shot of espresso to a flawless cappuccino, all in under minute. If you can tie your shoes, you can use one of these machines.

I looked in to this machine after using an older Capresso model at a friend's house. I was always impressed by how easily and quickly he could make a variety of drinks for guests, not to mention the quality of their appearance and flavor.

This machine comes with two different frothing systems, one is a more traditional bullet style frother, while the other can automatically steam or froth milk. This is where the J5 really shines. In no time you can froth yourself milk that would make the most seasoned barista jealous, and then push a single button to instantly brew piping hot coffee.

The machine starts with whole beans of your choosing and grinds them just for the drink you are making. This ensures that you'll get the freshest tasting coffee cup after cup.

What I like most about this machine though is the variety of drinks it can make. If you have a guest over who isn't a big coffee drinker you can use the machine to make instant hot water for tea, or my favorite trick: run chocolate milk through the steamer for instant hot chocolate. Of course for the rest of us, the pressure brewing system in this machine will allow you to say goodbye to expensive coffee drinks, and become your own favorite barista.

Product Description

The smooth, clean lines and elegant accents make the Jura-Capresso Impressa J5 an aesthetic masterpiece from any angle. A rich platinum metallic treatment for the front and top with tasteful chrome accents contrast with the glossy matte black side and back panels. Pushing the integrated rotary button allows you to enter 11 programming options. All functions and settings are clearly communicated in the alpha-number LED display. New Ceramic Valve technology shortens the flow of coffee resulting in a hotter temperature and more crema in your cup for the best in high-pressure brewed coffee, espresso, latte and cappuccino. World's first Butterfly Coffee Spout: dual coffee spout design moves up/down and in/out (butterfly-design) to accommodate a larger range of cup sizes. Unique triple temperature setting for hot water output produces a hotter Cafe Americano and accommodates a larger variety of tea preparation. The 18-bar pump combines with a fast-heating stainless steel lined thermoblock that delivers cup after cup of coffee with no downtime. Within seconds the J5 is ready to deliver unlimited amounts of steam to heat and froth milk.

Nespresso CitiZ D120 Automatic Espresso Maker and Milk Frother, Limousine Black With Nespresso Capsule holder, And White Mug's Review

Nespresso CitiZ D120 Automatic Espresso Maker and Milk Frother, Limousine Black With Nespresso Capsule holder, And White Mug's
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)

We started looking for a "portable" coffee/espresso machine about 6 months ago to double in our RV so we didn't have to lug our Capresso around. Even though we loved the style of the CitiZ we opted to try 3 less expensive pod machines which were immediately returned because either the machine leaked, the coffee wasn't hot enough or tasted AWFUL. We kept going back to specialty stores to recheck the CitiZ but he held out because of the price and I held out because I just wasn't comfortable with the non-recyclable semi-empty pods. We both were concerned about price fixing because the capsules are only available through Nespresso. Seems despite the cost he truly fell in love with it because he surprised me with one for Christmas! I was still struggling with the recycle issue up to the point when he gave me a cup of what the beautifully styled upscale machine had produced....OMG it was the best froth, foam, espresso, latte I have ever had and I've been to some swanky specialty shops in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Portland and Seattle. He purchased the wooden box that has 36 capsules in it and between that and the variety pack that came with ours, 6 adults were satiated with espressos, lattes and cappuccino's not to mention the great hot chocolate (just add chocolate milk or syrup with milk in frother) for the kids all weekend.
As for price fixing and delivery of the capsules; we haven't had a problem. I think there is a $6 shipping charge, and you do have to purchase a minimum of 5 sleeves (10 capsules in each sleeve) and delivery time is fast-two days! We order more sleeves so it cuts the cost of repeated shipping's. For the foamer/frother there are two magnetic pieces a small foam thing and a little whip for awesome foam. There are fill lines inside the foamer that make it easy to use. Add the capsule under the chrome lever and the capsule is punctured when you push the lever back in place. The buttons to the left and right of the lever can be programmed to 'auto fill' espresso & latte or his & hers, when your done lift the lever and the spent capsule drops into the reservoir, push a button to flush out the system, rinse out the foamer and turn off the machine. No they don't have tea or hot chocolate like the low line machines, if you want tea, just push the water button and add your own teabag. You do have to empty the used capsule reservoir after about 6-8 uses otherwise it will overflow with water that drains from the capsules. There is a little ledge for an espresso cup that lifts so you can put a regular size cup or use the espresso cup and just pour the contents into your travel/tall mug. As for saving money from Starbucks or Peets; the capsules may be 55cents/each BUT don't forget to take into consideration the increase expense in milk you will be going through! Seriously we love this machine so much we have gone from using 2gal milk/week to 5! NO LIE. I am addicted. I have not had one cup of regular coffee from our Capresso since I got this machine! You really have to use 2% milk or chocolate milk for Mocha's I tried the NF and 1% but it doesn't froth, the Soy/Almond milk froths a bit but tastes kinda burned. Although there is a water reservoir in the back of the machine that is very easy to access I do wish it had an additional water adapter like refrigerators do so you don't have to fill it up. The parts are easy to remove and clean, be careful not to use anything other than a soft moist clean cloth on the tower so as not to scratch it. And it does take a bit of added time to clean out the frother after use, at least rinsing between cups so as not to burn the next batch of milk. If you are looking for a real home espresso machine and want the ease of premeasured capsules Nespresso CitiZ is the way to go. It is well worth every dime!!! Don't like black-Kitchen Kaboodle and probably a couple other specialty shops (not Williams-Sonoma) have it in Fire Engine Red! Enjoy!!

March 7, 2011 Update: It's now 15 months since I rec'd Nespresso Citiz & I stand by my original review & if I've upgraded my previous 4 start to 5 stars. I have found that if NF milk is cold it will froth without problem just not as much as 2%. Thankfully I've cut down milk consumption. Cleaning the frother is a breeze. I have a very small rubber spatula that is dedicated to my frother, I want every bit of foam/milk in my cup & it's a non-stick surface NO METAL!. After the spent cartridge is released (the reservoir will hold about 10), I push a cup button & it rinses any left over coffee into the frother, important to prevent the machine from clogging-we've not had that issue, we have a hot water tap so I just rinse out frother. If I ever see built up milk residue in the frother I just leave a little hot water in and then rinse it out later. About 6months after we got the machine we did notice a build up of scorched milk in one spot of the frother I called Nespresso Cust Svc and they went above & beyond. At the time the frother for our machine was out of stock and expected to be for about a month. They would send a standby and as soon as the one for the machine was back in stock they would send it to us, all at no cost to us-warranty. We were to keep the defective one, and the standby. Within 2 days we rec'd the standby and 3 days after that we rec'd the correct one. I called to see if they wanted me to send the standby back (because I hadn't even opened it) and was kindly told to just keep it. WOW. No problem with frother since. Regarding the recycle issue I found that you can mail in spent capsules & they will recycle them. There have been no increases in cost of the capsules & I have started to place a larger order to minimize shipping costs. They keep your orders on file which is helpful. They come out with "special" holiday packs as well as new coffees. These are usually time-limited and sometimes are about 5 cents more per capsule than usual. I did wait to long to reorder a specialty coffee that I really liked & it was no longer available. We get reminders in the mail that it's time to use the cleaner which is very easy to do, not only do they give step by step instructions, we've gotten free packets of cleaner. I don't know if it's related to amount purchased or what. I would still recommend this machine. Go to their website to see the new designs of this machine because Black & Fire Engine Red (avail on Amazon too) are old school by todays designs! Would it be a bad thing to have more than one machine?

Nespresso D290R Concept Automatic Espresso Machine, Red and Black Review

I first met this machine while in my hotel room in Oslo Norway while for business. I'm such a coffee snob when it comes to coffee that I usually bring my coffee and filters with me on business trips and was overcome by how good -scratch that - GREAT this "pod" coffee and machine produced. Upon return to US I started searching for the machine and found it here at Amazon! Pods are 50 cents a pop so neither this machine - nor the coffee is for the faint of heart. BUT - once it arrived home I immediately gave away all my beans and have used nothing else since. Its Terrific and doesn't disappoint day after day!!!!

La Pavoni EPBB-8 Europiccola 8-Cup Lever Style Espresso Machine, Black Base Review

La Pavoni EPBB-8 Europiccola 8-Cup Lever Style Espresso Machine, Black Base
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)

PHOOEY to those who say this is only for the purists! Stuff and nonsense! The possibility for a more delightful relationship with a machine than a man can have with his La Pavoni espresso machine surely doesn't exist outside an Arthur C. Clarke novel. I really can think of no other mod con which is truly indispensible in the way that Ralph, our little Europiccola, is.

Difficult to use? Pshaw! Is a bicycle difficult to use? At first maybe, but all of a sudden you wonder what the fuss was about. With a little practice - and practice is half the fun of it - you will have the most beautiful espresso - thick crema and all - merrily widdling out the little spout everytime.

Ralph is delightfully simple to use, as a matter of fact: water in, turn on, coffee in, lever up, lever down, and you're done. How hard can that be?

Getting your espresso right comes down to a lot of other variables, which are the same for any espresso machine - the sort of coffee you use, the correct grind, the correct grinder (if you grind yourself, the grinder is really critical) the correct pressure, even the type of water you put in the machine. If you're having trouble grinding your own then head down to the grocers, pick up a tin of Illy coffee, and BINGO - you may as well be in a Palazzo San Giovanni with a pair of smart sunnies and a scooter shouting, "prego" at passers by, that's how Italian you'll feel. And the coffee is divine.

Honestly, the very sight of that cute little chappie sitting, glinting on our bench every morning, ready to gladden the very experience of waking up and getting ready for work is enough to make my heart sing. I love my little La Pavoni. You'll love yours, too. Depend on it. I know I do.

Jura-Capresso 13187 Impressa E8 Super-Automatic Espresso Machine, Black Review

Jura-Capresso 13187 Impressa E8 Super-Automatic Espresso Machine, Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)

I have to say, I *love* my E8! I tried one at a store and, after a lot of research, settled on Jura Capresso because of the cleaning cycle feature (most others you have to remove the "brew group" once a week or so and manually clean it - I was *so* not going to do that!). I settled on the E8 versus other JC's because of the price and the features... the higher-end models' extra features (none of which directly affect the quality of a single cup) were worth the additional cost, especially since I live alone.

I've no complaint about the temperature of the coffee, as long as I pre-heat my cup. A little hot water out of the spiget does the trick. I use a decent coffee bean from a local store and have excellent results. I did have to play around with the grind settings, but I expected that.

The frother (I don't have the fancy add-on) does a better-than-decent job of frothing/foaming milk; however, it's not as good as a coffee-house machine wielded by a pro, with perfect-temperature milk and a cold pitcher. However, it works much better than any home-based espresso machine I've encountered, and much better than what one often gets from a disaffected coffee counter person.

The flavor is rich and full - like cafe crema or espresso ought to be. While, again, a true barista with a true pro machine and the best beans can indeed produce a better cup, this is far better than what I typically get in a high-end coffee shop. That's part of what originally sold me on it - I found out the store that I sampled it at used "cheap supermarket beans" (as they put it).

One does have to be careful with the beans; if they're oily, they'll cling to each other and not make their way down the hopper. The solution? Stick your finger in the beans and swirl once, or don't use oily beans (oily doesn't necessarily mean more flavor). I like the beans I use but they do stick slightly, and a little touch with my finger fixes the 'problem'. The manual, video, web site, and talking chicken that came with the product makes this very clear.

Cleaning is a breeze - every couple of days I empty the hopper that catches the pucks (grounds). Once a week or so I rinse out the drip tray. Every once in a while it alerts me that I need to run a cleaning cycle: in goes the tablet and that's it.

My only complaint - and I knew this going in - is that for $1000 it ought not be 100% plastic. The spigot that the coffee comes out is plastic, and raises/lowers. I'm always careful, because if something that I have control over is going to break, it's going to be this piece. More expensive models have metal for this piece, but I couldn't see adding $500+ dollars for this.

I was originally concerned not having a cup warmer might be an issue. It says it has a passive cup warmer in some of the online literature, but that's baloney - the top doesn't get any warmer than rooom temperature. However, it is no inconvenience (and I'm pretty lazy) to release some water from the spigot into the cup, and let it sit for a few seconds.

This is just about the best thing ever! I used to go to coffee shops and drop $7 - $10 a day. I figure I'll make that back after costs in about a year. It's not expensive - it's economical in my book!

Keurig B70 Coffee Maker, Gourmet Single Cup Coffee & Tea Brewing System Added Value: 60 K-Cups & My K-Cup Reusable Filter Platinum Black Color

The average office is all chiefs, no Indians. Secretaries are Administrative Assistants. Clerks are Middle Management. The A/V geeks of yore are now IT techs and make way more than I do. Nowadays the only way to tell who's holding up the rest of the totem pole is through Trial By Coffee. The request starts at a fairly high rung and coils its way down the ranks like a slinky, until it lands at the feet of the poor schmuck who now realizes where the barrel bottoms out.

Keurig has changed all that. It makes coffee brewing so easy, it's the egalitarian breakthrough of the ages. The coffee pot is gone. You just pop in a coffee cartridge and select your cup size, which ranges from diminutive espresso to "OMIGOD, WHAT DO YOU PEOPLE WANT FROM ME???" caffeine overdose. There are lots of different brands and many different flavors...you could even brew yourself a cup of German Chocolate Cake coffee (but then I would hate you forever).

When the process is this simple, asking someone to fetch you a cup causes tremendous loss of face. The new powerplay move is to say: "I'm getting myself coffee...who wants some," proving one's status is unassailable. Of course everyone says 'no,' but the noble gesture has been made. (For my full guide to successful office fandangoes, send $18 in cash or money order to my P.O. Box, no checks please.)

At home, Keurig is a godsend for those of us who never remember to set the timer the night before and then have to stand around on one foot, face down on the kitchen counter, fists drumming, waiting for the pot to fill. Keurig isn't perfect. In a perfect world, it would have a "You need milk" reminder. But hey, in a perfect world, my jeans would still fit. Get over it.

By the way, if you want THE perfect cup of coffee, you can't have it...not since they quit making the Grinder's Delight. It was more than s coffee brewer...it was alchemy. It made coffee that tasted so good, I would stand outside and offer sips to strangers who would then wring my hand in gratitude. Alas, after about 15 years, the Grinder's Delight fell apart. Not a single day goes by that I don't remember it and the carefree days we shared. It won't be the same with the Keurig...but is it ever the second time around?
