Zojirushi CV-DSC40 VE Hybrid Water Boiler and Warmer, Stainless Steel Review

Zojirushi CV-DSC40 VE Hybrid Water Boiler and Warmer, Stainless Steel

If you're looking for hot-water on tap for tea, hot cereals, instant soups, ramen, etc - this is a very convenient item.

I drink green teas heavily, and bought it based on the strength of reviews and the Zojirushi brand reputation. I was not disappointed.

I fill it up from the tap, move it to the counter and plug it in. It usually boils in around an hour, and then settles back down to the (adjustable) setpoint in another 1.5 ~ 2 hours. Although I haven't taken a thermometer to its output to verify consistency, I've had great results from the teas I use, so the variations can't be too wild.

As is common with Japanese consumer products the controls are well thought out. It has an unlock button to prevent you shooting water onto the floor or something else accidentally, and the double action lever to open the top makes it hard to have your hand in the way & get a steam burn as you open it.

The water level is clearly visible via a clear tube with a patterned background, and the 4L capacity suits my tea usage for somewhere between 4 and 7 days, depending on just how much I happen to feel like having.

I especially recommend it if you're a Macha tea fan, as it makes the process remarkably fast and easy, simply scoop your tea into a bowl, add some water straight from the Zojirushi, whisk and enjoy.

The only design annoyance I've seen is that the power plug relies on magnets to hold itself in the socket. This is itself a good idea, except most of the body is metal. So if you position the dispenser such that you 're trying to plug it up from behind and can't see where the plug should be exactly, the magnet sticks to the body anywhere you put it until you can feel around for the socket. A fairly minor annoyance, but one that could have been fixed by making the body out of plastic further around the plug socket.

Very solid overall product.

the product ordered took a while to arrive, longer than expected. It arrived the day I left town . the delivery company supplier used was professional on the surface with email shipment notices and such but the delivery appointment took some time to schedule. They also delivered in afternoon instead of morning - driver could not handle machine alone, i had to help unload and put in my car to get to the door (long drivewaY) , they would not deliver to door.

Machine installed one week ago - instructions were a little vague in how to start up, called technical service who helped to walk me through setup. After descaling machine (did not say i had to do that, about 10 minutes) proceeded to coffee setup/hot water.

At first a couple drops of water came out. Coffee grounds were dispensed but no coffee. Tried 3 times. Nothing. Then tried hot water, Nothing - Remove machine from cabinet and found that the machine had internal leak and was leaking water internally all over the floor, kitchen flooded. Turned machine off and Miehle representative called for a service tech to come repair. Glad they have company employees instead of service agents which was a big plus. their local dispatch called on Monday (installation occurred on a Saturday) and setup appt for Wednesday .

Tech arrived promptly, found a hose had disconnected internally during the first descaling process (miehle rep had said that was probably the problem) and sure enough he was right. I guess it happened before. Tech was very professional, wore booties over his shoes into house which was appreciated! he had all the proper equipment to service and find the loose hose.

He proceeded also to help setup machine for all specifics like coffee amounts, grind type, lighting, timer and so on. He was GREAT!
Also he told me about a 5 year service plan fully covers everything $249.00 which I think is a good investment of for a complex machine like this. I plan to use it. Had DACOR machine previous to this one and it was nothing but headaches. It looked good, built out of all metal but went through 3 under warranty and after warranty continuos service calls . That machine should be delegated to junk pile out of the box!
Miehle was much more plastic inside, not as attractive due to black plastic and a somewhat fake stainless steel look but after having it work for one day seems to offer all the features i need, the automatic milk cleaning / dispenser for capuccino is much easier to use and would like to offer an update in a month to let you know further details

Cuisinart SS-780PC Single Serve Brewing System, Includes 54 K-Cups & 6 water filters Review

I cannot believe how good this product is in combination with Keurig's K-cup system. We've owned the Bosch Tassimo and loved that for the last year until we couldn't get the descale light to go away, plus the selection was quite limited to Starbucks and Gevalia. Both good brews (not great), but in comparison to the variety of the K-cup system they look and taste paltry in comparison. Caribou Coffee is a mirror image (tastewise) of what you buy in stores and the Donut Shop blend from the Coffee People is incredible as well. For a bigger kick Emeril's Bold and Easy is fantastic, or you can brew your own blend of whatever you like in the reusable cup which Cuisinart nailed. Coarse ground coffees fresh from Dunkin Donuts come out very weak and are not advisable, but their Turbo Hot blend sold in grocery stores brews FANTASTIC as it has a finer grind. I think you can re-grind coarse coffee in a burr grinder to get a deeper brew.

Again, if you love coffee and you love the idea of the single brew system then this Cuisinart is for you. It's a solid machine that brews a very impressive cup of joe from a variety of vendors.
