We have previously owned the Keurig coffee maker but after the second one died, we decided to upgrade to the Breville brewer. It works great, the options are easy to use and understand, and it is wisper quiet. Great product.

Had this coffee maker installed with my home remodel nearly seven years ago now. MORE than paid for itself MANY TIMES over (hey, nearly $5 a pop of your favorite brew adds up FAST).

Easy to care for. Only one problem since the installation was fixed with a quick call to VERY friendly and helpful Miele customer service. They walked me through fixing the problem (less than 15 minutes) and sent me a part replacement kit just in case the part needed replacing (it didn't, but I kept it just in case).

DURABLE is what surprised me; I use it at least 4-7 times daily more on the weekends without a hitch. (How many things do you use that often in a day, every day for seven years without a screw up?) It will not take "flavored" coffees (beans that have been coated in flavoring) as that will gum up the works, but then again who really wants gunk coated beans, anyway?

Of all the "toys" I bought for my new kitchen; this has been the most impressive.

Tried this out (Cadillac unit) in England.... this is the basic unit, but inside the same except it does not froth milk and do all the extra stuff...it is just for espresso (or coffee).... tastes as good as the larger more expensive ones.......I've only had it a few months though and it is making lots of noise sometimes while brewing and is at times can be a little slower than usual...... having said that, overall it is the best out there especially for people who hate the mess of the grounds and cleanup, etc....it is as they say...it taste the same every time as the pods are vac-packed and it is so quick and easy....truly "plug and play".

I don't even drink coffee, but I got a similar-looking one for my wife a couple of years ago - looks the same except it doesn't have the black stripes around it. It's high-priced and I don't know why - but it's stainless steel, not aluminum, takes a high polish, nice looking. But the main thing is, my wife loves it - she has espresso twice a day, and for awhile she kept trying to use her Saeco machine, but it always needed expensive repairs and was kind of a hassle to use. For the last few months she's been using just this little pot, twice daily, it's fast and simple and works perfectly. There's no big production number required to get espresso into her system (that's good for me, too!). She can do without the crema, and she finds it makes as good or better espresso than she can buy anywhere. I could have gotten her a cheaper one that works just as well, probably, but this was a special gift so I didn't mind the extra cost. She loved that it's in MoMA. It's that kind of thing that makes a gift out of the ordinary.

9090/6 FM Size: 6 Cup Richard Sapper is a German industrial designer. He received a Compasso d'Oro industrial design award in 1959. Sapper partnered with Italian designer Marco Zanuso and were hired in 1959 as consultants to Brionvega, an Italian company trying to produce stylish electronics that would compete with products manufactured in Japan and Germany. They designed a series of radios and televisions that became enduring icons of an aesthetic known as techno-functionalism. One of their more notable designs was the rounded, compact and portable Doney 14 (1962), the first television to feature completely transistorized construction. Using the aesthetic of sculptural minimalism, the pair designed the compact folding Grillo telephone for Siemens and Italtel in 1965. The Grillo was one of the first telephones to put the dial and the earpiece on the same unit, and today is a featured display at New York's Museum of Modern Art. The 9090 was not only the first espresso coffee machine in our history, but it was also the first Alessi object designed for the kitchen after the 30s. It also gained us our first Compasso d'Oro Award (in 1979) and it is on display in the Permanent Design Collection at the MOMA in New York. The Espresso Coffee Maker was the first of our amphibious objects, those that can be used in the kitchen but are attractive enough to be used directly at the table. It proved that there was ample space on the market for good-looking coffee machines, and it spurred on almost all household goods manufacturers to try to imitate our lead. Braun Tassimo TA1200 Single-Serve Hot-Beverage System Review

I have had my Tassimo for just over a month now (received it 10/4/05) and I am in love with it!!! I have all the different T-Discs now since I can get them online from many places. I got my last order of T-Discs from Gevalia online, including the European varieties. I can have Tea, Hot Chocolate as good as any I have ever had, Cappuccinos, Lattes, Espresso, Crema Coffee (better than the "fake crema" on the senseo), Bold coffee, mild coffee. Since my wife drinks tea and I drink coffee and coffee drinks, and our nieces love hot chocolate when they visit, the Tassimo is perfect.

Contrary to what the "uninformed" may say, this machine is very, very clean. There is a cleaning disc that needs to be run twice when you first get the machine, and then monthly. You do not have to run the cleaning disc after every Cappuccino and Latte. Also, almost all of the removeable parts are machine washable!!!

The beverage selection is still limited (no flavored coffees), but I have purchased some flavored syrups and can now make flavored Cappuccinos and lattes that rival any coffee shop for a fraction of the cost!!! This is REAL, high quality coffee too, unlike the flavia which uses some powdered yuk mixed with water. Right now they have Gevalia Coffee (regular, decaf, espresso,crema,)and Tea, Twinings Tea, Suchard Hot Chocolate, Kenco coffee, Carte Noir Coffee (Regular, Espresso, Crema). The Cappuccino and Latte are packed with Gevalia espresso, but from what I have read, it sounds like they will be releasing an entire line of Maxwell House Cafe collection varieties sometime in November. I am not sure about Maxwell house, but I really like the Gevalia products!!!

The T-Discs have premium ground coffee, Tea, liquid Suchard chocolate in them. The Tassimo machine reads a bar code that tell it how long to brew, the correct temperature and bar, and the machine does the rest.

There are a few things to get used to, like the steam and water runoff that is caught by the drip tray after every brew....and the Tassimo is louder than a regular drip machine, but not nearly as loud as a foamer on an espresso machine. The water container even has a filter, so that there is no transfer of some of the off flavors that tap water can give, since after all, coffee is 99% water.

The Cappuccinos and Lattes use real milk (ultra pasteurized and shelf stable), which make an exceptionally flavorful finished product.

I am confident that since this is made and backed by Kraft and Braun, that the coffee selections are going to increase significantly in the near future to offer more varieties and flavors, even though the selection currently available now is somewhat limited, it is of a very high quality.

Bottom line, this is an incredibly versatile, dependable machine that I love and will be using for a very long time. I love it so much that I have ordered several more machines to give as Christmas gifts. There is nothing else on the market that can do what this machine does - so many different beverages - such high quality - so fast and easy. Do yourself a favor and get a Tassimo!!

I have been grinding up my Sumatra beans for the past 20+ years (thank you, Peets!!) with the same little electric grinder and have been very content. THEN, I read about the wonders of hand grinding and considered that there may be something to these claims. But in all honesty, I bought this Peugeot grinder because it reminded me of one my grandmother used to have in her kitchen. So, I dutifully used my new grinder and was skeptical until I took my first sip - I didn't need a side-by-side taste comparison, that was one of the smoothest cups of coffee I've ever tasted. The difference was startling! I felt like I was finally tasting the fully measure of what Sumatra beans are supposed to be. I've been using my Peugeot grinder for about a month now, it is so worth the extra 3 minutes it takes to grind my beans. I have retired my trusty little electric grinder (I'm actually pretty amazed that this little machine has lasted all these years). I love my Peugeot grinder so much that I bought my brother one for Christmas!
